Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia, has had a long and interesting history, from the colonial times under British rule, to gaining its independence with the historic ceremony at Merdaka Square. Of course Kuala Lumpur lived through the war, and Japanese occupation.

Today Kuala Lumpur is a key destination in South East Asia. As well as allowing access to the rest of Malaysia, the International Airport acts as a key interchange for flights between Europe and Australia. With embassies for many countries around the world, it is also an important visa run stopping place.
